"When once a republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil." ~ Thomas Jefferson
Our government is corrupt. The Court, the Legislature, and the Executive - all corrupted. Maybe not every participant in the process is bad, but the evils of the system at large are unresolvable. We won't even discuss the fourth branch of the government.
Greed has infested each area of government and industry, and there is no remedy in sight. Our economy is approaching the breaking point of its slow decline. Soon, more and more people will awaken to the realization that they have been hoodwinked, taken, conned and misguided by a government empowered by their very own consent and funded by their very own labors.
We Americans have been conditioned with a mindset of survival of the fittest that perpetrates every realm of existence. We have been oppressed by policy. We have accepted authority as a necessity. We are all victims of this conditioning, some more than others. Profit has become the golden calf that we are taught to worship over all else. Profit is the modern day measure of a worth, and has destroyed the merits that should be afforded to common sense, reason, morality, and compassion.
We must not disillusion ourselves to think that we are better or different just because we awoke sooner to a certain perspective or realization. Most of us are only partially awake. We cannot push away those of a different ideological stance as us, rather, we must embrace our commonalities. While many scoff at the prospect of peace overcoming violence, we cannot allow ourselves to fall victim to that misguided line of negative thinking. The only way we can overcome the evils in this world is by extinguishing them with acts of virtue and love. We must learn to assist others to wake up to the truth through friendly reasoning.
Those participating in the global revolution protests around the world must acknowledge that despite any conflicting stances or opinions, we are all there for a reason. For some, it may have started as a feeling that something is just not right with this world. For others, it may have occurred due to some oppressive happening that affected you or your family. For many others, the evidence has been mounting for far too long.
The reason that revolution is in the works is because we have realized that greed cannot be the primary motivation of mankind and its governments. There must be room for reason, for common sense, for morality, and for compassion. These virtues must be the primary considerations of our protectors and our fellow man.
|NYPD Clash with Occupy Wall Street Protestors|
There are too many of us on this Earth at this period of human existence for us to continue this philosophy of profit maximization. Far too few are reaping the benefits of this system while the great many suffer and die at the expense.
The Occupy Wall Street protest that started in New York City, and has since spread to cities and towns around the country, is a reflection of the growing discontent of the people with the gluttonous philosophy of our government and finance industry. These protests may adapt, change, and reform, but they will not go away. Whether masses occupy wall street, occupy the Federal Reserve, occupy Washington D.C., or simply occupy, the demonstrations against greed and its corrupting capabilities are here to stay.
The goal of these demonstrations may not be easy to articulate or easy to understand, because there is so much wrong with our society. The ambition is to remedy the morality of our system - our system of government, our financial system, our business model, and the mindset of the citizenry at large.
We must change our system to one that will choose peace over war, one that will choose love over hate, and one that will choose compassion over profit. We need to revolutionize the system. It is our duty to take back the power that rightfully belongs to the people.
We must be the change. Help others realize. Be compassionate.
