Five U.S. Army soldiers are being charged with murdering Afghan civilians.  The soldiers were allegedly involved in a 12-man "kill team" accused of murdering Afghan civilians for sport. To make matters worse, after killing civilians the soldiers had a practice of posing with the bodies for a morbid photo shoot.  Der Spiegel leaked the story and allegedly has some 4,000 additional photographs of a similar nature.

If there are any humanitarians in the audience, don't worry, the U.S. Army has issued a formal apology for the actions of its men:

"Today Der Spiegel published photographs depicting actions repugnant to us as human beings and contrary to the standards and values of the United States Army," the Army said in a statement released by Col. Thomas Collins. "We apologize for the distress these photos cause."

Sounds sincere.
